The newly implemented UAE law on Personal Data Protection is designed to ensure the confidentiality of information and protect the privacy of individuals in the country. It provides governance for data management and protection, while defining the rights and duties of all concerned.
The law came into effect on 2nd January 2022 and is currently being implemented. Publication of the executive regulations under the law is also expected soon.
The law will, impact the work of IT professionals in the UAE and overseas with its provisions applying to the processing of personal data whether inside or outside the UAE. Businesses with UAE operations will need to understand what the law means for their customers/lead data, how they can safeguard data, & fully comply with the law. It will also be important to understand the repercussions for compliance failure.
To help you better understand the law, its impact, Cobweb teamed up with Microsoft and our legal counsellors, ARPLAW group for a virtual Town Hall – ‘Decoding the UAE Data Protection Act’.
