November has seen a number of smaller additions and updates made to the Office 365 package. These tweaks help improve the mobile experience for all Microsoft users and improve the ability of location-independent teams working on-the-go.
Office.com has undergone a redesign to improve its functionality and make your working day with colleagues more productive. The Explore link takes you to a page of all your monthly app subscriptions, helping you to better understand what you have access to and how to renew.
There is a Recent Documents section which allows you to see which documents have been used most recently across all device logins either through OneDrive or SharePoint. Alternatively, use the Activity column to see which users have been actively editing which documents.
To further improve your relationships with colleagues and team members, LinkedIn profiles are now integrated with various Microsoft apps and services. This is now being made available to OneDrive for Business, SharePoint and Outlook Web Access customers.
It is designed to give you deeper insight into your team, including those members within and outside your company. Simply hover over someone’s name to get an overview of their profile and skillset.
Outlook For Mobile
Outlook already has great functionality on mobile devices, but there was one small area that was lacking. The inability to edit other people’s calendars from your phone was limited, especially if you were responsible for organising a number of delegates.
This functionality has now been extended to allow you to accept delegation requests and edit delegated calendars both on iOS and Android.
Files on Demand
Recent updates to OneDrive Files On-Demand means you can seamlessly access and edit all files in Windows File Explorer. You can see what files are synced for offline and online use and edit accordingly.
This system is designed to avoid using up vital storage space on your laptop or computer.
Planner has already grown to become one of the most popular team collaboration tools available, but recent updates have been made to improve its functionality. You can now drag-and-drop tasks directly into your team calendar for monthly, weekly and daily viewing.
If you are using Microsoft Flow, you can now build a flow which transports Planner tasks directly from Office 365 emails.
The recent Microsoft/Adobe partnership is just another in a string of steps to help diversify the range of apps available to Microsoft customers and improve integration across commonly used alternative apps.
This new collaboration has brought Microsoft Teams into Adobe Creative Cloud, and Office 365 directly into Adobe Sign. More information on this new agreement can be found here.
