Remote desktops enable you to use your desktop from any location.
Make sure you're making the most of Teams with our top tips!
In July, Microsoft 365 and Teams continued the journey to delivering the perfect digital workplace for tech-savvy organisations. There were several updates for further optimising collaborative features and remote worker tools. There were also some updates targeting specific sectors in the US Government. Let's look at what's new:
You can now utilise a 'priority notifications' feature to ensure your most urgent messages are addressed quickly. All customers can get unlimited priority notifications as part of a promotion that runs from July right through to the end of 2019. You can also now get the attention of specific individuals without making an '@' mention. Just start typing that person's name, and select them from the list of suggestions - it's similar to Facebook!
Conversations can now be kept on-topic through channel moderation. Selected team owners and members can get exclusive rights to create new posts in a channel, and control whether replies are enabled. This is ideal for keeping conversations focused.
When a meeting or event is hosted in Microsoft Teams, you need to think about how the audience and/or participants consume it. New live captions and subtitles will allow everyone to read speaker captions in real-time to ensure meetings and live events are more accessible. This is a game-changer for the deaf and hard of hearing, as well as non-native speakers and people in loud environments.
Live event usage reports can now help visualise data and reporting to help you optimise for future events. Data includes usage information, views, event status and individuals who schedule/present/produce live events.
Meetings are enhanced with updates to Microsoft Teams Rooms. These include UI updates for more intuitive controls, new themes and imagery for room displays, additional meeting controls and the function to rate call quality. Plus, finally, Microsoft Whiteboard can now be used in Microsoft Teams Rooms. Please note that Skype for Business Online has now been retired, as of 31 July 2019.
The preview of Network Planner helps admins calculate network requirements for deploying Teams and cloud voice throughout your organisation's real-world locations.
In Teams Shifts, the new time clock allows workers to clock in and out of work shifts/breaks via the mobile app. Managers can geo-fence locations to ensure team members are where they say they are.
