There’s been a number of updates for Microsoft Teams – focusing on communication, collaboration and customization. Here’s the low down:
Do not disturb
Users can now allow certain people to reach them while in ‘do not disturb’ mode, so that they can still focus on their work yet not miss out on anything important. It’s easy to set up with just a click on the user’s profile picture, then Setting > Privacy and follow the steps.
PowerPoint for meetings
Is there anything more frustrating than a PowerPoint which won’t load properly due to a lack of bandwidth. The good news is you can now share them using less bandwidth, enabling viewers to read them privately. If you choose to share a PowerPoint file in a meeting, rather than your desktop, meeting participants will be able to move around to different slides without interrupting the main presentation and can sync their view back to that of the presenter's with one click.
Answer Auto Attendant and Call Queue calls directly from Teams
For Teams users, Microsoft Phone System Auto Attendant is now generally available, and Call Queues is in ready for preview. This means Teams users can receive and answer calls from Skype for Business Online Auto Attendant and Call Queues directly from their Teams client.
Users will be able to differentiate incoming calls from an Auto Attendant or Call Queue before they answer the call. Along with the name and/or number of the caller, each call will also include information of who the caller was trying to reach, giving users better context of how to address the caller.
A free version of Teams is now available in 40 languages. It means you can create teams of up to 300 people, and it includes other features, such as unlimited chat, plus search and integration audio/video calling.
Wiki and Teams
Wikipedia is great for quickly finding information about almost anything. Now, the new Wiki app gives you access to Wiki channels from one place. Find Wiki in the ‘More Apps’ section, on the left-hand side of your Team window.
