How secure is your email?

Despite the growth in popularity of workplace messaging apps - such as Microsoft Teams, Skype for Business, Slack, etc - email is still the preferred method for communicating internally and externally across business. However, it’s also the preferred channel for cybercriminals wanting to infiltrate a business.

And while it’s cyberattacks on the high-profile enterprise organisations that make the news, the threat is just as real for the smaller business - recent research reports that almost 70 percent  of small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) have experienced a cyberattack, and almost 60 percent have suffered a data breach in the last 12 months

Sarah May, Cobweb Customer Success Specialist, says, "The threat landscape continues to evolve, and cybercriminals are today employing increasingly sophisticated methods of attack.

"Phishing, business email compromise (or CEO fraud), whaling (a phishing attack aimed at a specific, prominent individual) - these are among the methods of cyberattack that businesses are having to learn about and protect against.

"But, of course, as cybercrime continues to evolve, so do the services and solutions to tackle it."

Cobweb’s eBook, Email security: from phishing to fraud - don’t be left on the hook for a cyberattack, takes a look at the email threat landscape of today and the most common forms of cyberattack, along with the software applications to prevent attack - such as:

- Microsoft Office 365’s in-built security capabilities

- The security and compliance features of Microsoft 365 - the modern workplace platform incorporating Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security, and Windows 10

- Advanced threat protection, identity and access management, mobile device management, sensitive information protection

- Data compliance and business continuity requirements.

Sarah May: "Whether it’s to meet the latest generation of cyberthreat or a recent data regulation, or to ensure business continuity, protecting the security of the business has never been more important.

"We know that no two businesses are the same, and each will have its own specific security requirements. As an expert in cloud security, we assess a business’s email environment, and go through in detail the cybersecurity options available, to ensure that every customer has the security solution that’s right for their business."
