What links fire, the Gutenberg printing press and a non-existent spam-tweeting fridge?

What links fire, the Gutenberg printing press and a non-existent spam-tweeting fridge?

Answer: The cloud, of course!

Last night Cobweb invited nearly 200 customers, partners, press and industry peers to our event – the Liberating Technology Cloud Forum. Our speakers from academia and industry provided a thought-provoking forum on all things cloud and its impact on people in business and society at large.

Why did we do this? We’re passionate about the exciting cloud journey we’re all participating in, globally, and wanted to hear from some of the industry’s leading inspirational speakers to talk about their view on the liberating role of cloud technology in the world.

We heard from a range of fantastic speakers, with Cobweb CEO and co-founder Paul Hannam giving the welcome and setting the scene with talk that began with the discovery of fire and took us into the imaginable future that technology brings.

Professor James Woudhuysen enthralled the audience with his talk, 'Boosters, Critics, Winners & Losers', which led nicely into Clare Barclay from Microsoft UK who covered 'Exploring the Future of Technology'.

Andy Cotgreave from Tableau Software dove deep into 'Data=Art: What Links the Artist & the Analyst', and Alex Hilton CEO of The Cloud Industry Forum laid out the lay of the land in 'Cloud Services - A View of the UK Market'.

Two of our specialist guests gave the audience an eye opening look into the exciting and linked worlds of digital finance and security. Eric Benz from Bitreserve lifted the lid with his speech 'Cloud Banking for Social Empowerment' and Jay Epton, on his last day with Symantec, explained the 'Evolving technology, Evolving threat landscape'.

Finally, Tim Holman, Director of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) enlightened the audience on all things security and keeping it real with 'Cyber Security. Putting Liberated Technology Back in the Cage'.

So our audience know what links those items from the question in the title. Big thanks to all our guests, those who posed questions to the panel, and the panel of speakers themselves for giving up their time to join our event.
