Cobweb Solutions UAE Plans Support Service

Great news for all SMEs and would-be entrepreneurs from Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, had approved a number of initiatives as part of the three year, AED50 billion Abu Dhabi Government Accelerators Program ‘Ghadan 21’, or Tomorrow 2021.

While the initiatives cut across multi-sectors, SMEs are given more focus than ever before in the emirate. This comes on top of recent easing of regulations for business set up and visas for the sector, including solopreneurs and entrepreneurs and together they represent a new era for SMEs in the Emirates.

Now on offer under Tomorrow 2021 is a working capital credit guarantee programme to give SMEs access to Dh10bn in financing over the next three years from local banks at reduced interest rates. The setting up of a small claims court, which should help the quandary of late payments or refusal to pay. On top of this, from Q1 next year, the government will give preference to local companies in its tenders a new policy from the first quarter of 2019 will give local companies preference in government tenders, accounting for more than 50 per cent of current government spending categories.

This has all got to be music to the eyes of UAE SMEs and start-ups looking for support – they’ll now have the confidence that they are being taken seriously as a major economic contributor.
