Meetings, calls and devices
Even bigger gallery view
The preview version of a new feature that will allow users to see up to 49 participants in a 7x7 grid on a single screen. Plus, meeting needs changing rapidly, the maximum number of participants in Teams meetings has been increased to 300.
Pop out meetings and chat
After the introduction of the pop-out chat functionality, users wanted more to help them optimise their workflow. Now, you can pop-out meetings to really create a multi-window experience. This feature can be switched on on PC and Mac.
Launch meetings instantly
Meet Now buttons will have a new home in Teams channels - the Channel header. This will make it easy to find and launch a channel meeting.
Better direct routing options
Direct Routing to connect PSTN services to Teams has been popular, and a key component has been Session Border Controllers. As such, Cisco and Avaya have been added to the certification list.
Private numbers kept private
Now with Audio Conferencing in Teams meetings, the phone numbers of PSTN participants will be masked from users joining from outside your organisation.
Improved call transfer
Calls can now be transferred safely to another user within your organisation. By Safely, we mean that if the call recipient does not answer, it will ring back to the transferrer.
Schedule meetings in free version of Microsoft Teams
Schedule a meeting and hand out invitations in advance via your Outlook or Google calendar. Unlike Zoom and other tools, no time limits are enforced.
Coming soon: breakout rooms
This feature will allow meeting organisers to split participants in Teams meetings into smaller groups to help with brainstorming and discussions. Perfect for schools and virutal events.
Chat and collaboration
Instant chat translation for iOS
Quick, inline chat translation opens the door to global collaboration and removes the language barrier.
Continually send notifications that repeat every 2 minutes for up to 20 minutes when a message is marked urgent.
Updates for IT admins, developer and platform teams
Teams Power Shell enhancements:
- All Teams management modules can be centralised into a single production module. It will be tagged with a 'Preview' name and simplifies the IT admin experience.
- All Teams Power Shell documentation has been refreshed and updated in line with feedback from IT Admins.
Incoming webhooks for adaptive cards
