On 21st April 2020, Microsoft will be updating the names of its Office 365 subscriptions for small and medium businesses. The good news is that there are no price or feature changes for the subscriptions and there are no changes to the Office 365 for Enterprise or Education product names.
To provide customers with more clarity about how the different subscription options relate to each other, the Office 365 business subscriptions will move under the Microsoft 365 family name. Office 365 Business subscriptions are becoming Microsoft 365 for business subscriptions. This includes Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business Premium, and Microsoft 365 Business.
The standalone commercial desktop client subscriptions are becoming Microsoft 365 Apps subscriptions. This includes Office 365 Business and Office 365 ProPlus.
If you'd like more detail about the name changes, take a look at Cobweb's summary, Your quick guide to Microsoft Office name changes.
As ever Microsoft continues to bring new value and capabilities to Microsoft 365 every month and you can keep up to date with those changes through our regular blogs.
In these unprecedented times, where we are all impacted by Covid-19, the change of name may be a good time for you to review your existing subscription choices.
