MBA executive education provider Management Development Centre International (MDCI) is reaping the dividends of using Microsoft Teams for Education as its latest distance learning initiative.

MDCI, a UK organisation with a Middle Eastern hub in Bahrain, quickly adopted the Microsoft communications solution as it looked to move its physical education provision online and keep its courses running during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Teams has not only enabled us to continue providing quality education during the COVID-19 lockdown periods but facilitated the growth of our offering by allowing us to provide online study solutions to students from throughout the UK, the Middle East, and the Far East while expanding our teaching faculty with experts based all over the world,” explained Rob Rice, CEO, MDCI.

Tailored for a bespoke service

Already impressed with the Teams solution, which was activated within a day, MDCI turned to Cobweb MENA to customise its Teams solution into an interactive classroom experience. After in-depth discussions with the client to fully comprehend the specific needs of lecturers and students, Cobweb created the MDCI classroom with dedicated channels for daily curriculum, course files, feedback chat, communications, and even breakout rooms where dedicated discussions were enabled for specified invitees.

“We aimed to provide a classroom that was as easy to navigate as a website, where everything needed could be found quickly, collaboration was empowered and the overall experience was user-friendly and seamless,” said Cobweb MENA Managing Director Altaf Alimohamed.

MDCI’s Teams customized virtual classroom was trailed in the delivery of a Strategic Planning MBA module.

“The classroom was simple to use both for myself and the students who could all participate in discussions,” commented Dr. David Bright, who delivered the module. “Everything was easy to find with communication being kept in one easy to navigate space.

“Cobweb took the time to take me through the environment before class delivery and I found the instruction simple to follow.”

Cobweb is now customizing the Teams virtual classroom for additional MDCI courses which are now attracting students worldwide who can access first-class MBA education online.

“Teams is the ultimate collaboration tool, but many companies don’t know how to get the best out of it and that’s where customization based on specific needs comes in,” explained Ali Mohamed.

MDCI’S next intake for The Certificate in Transformational Leadership (CTL) begins in February 2021 enhanced by the full customized Teams experience. Follow MDCI on LinkedIn.
