With only seven months to go until the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation comes into force (25 May 2018), organisations are beginning to ramp up preparations to meet the regulation’s requirements.
To help businesses as they work towards compliancy, Cobweb’s created a support package to include information forums and activities delivered by GDPR consultants from the information security and data protection services organisation Cybercrowd.
Oliver Moazzezi, Cobweb Technical Architect, Development and Innovation, says “With GDPR coming into effect next year, many organisations face having to make significant changes to how they collect, store and manage data.
“While most organisations have made a start on preparing to meet the new regulation’s requirements, we’re conscious that some have yet to begin. We’ve, therefore, created our GDPR: Journey to Compliance Support Package to provide businesses with the necessary support to help them become compliant – regardless of where they are with preparation, and to be able to pick and choose activities depending on individual need.
“We’ve grouped the regulation’s requirements into four areas, and created our three-phase GDPR package to provide activities to help you meet the requirements in each area.”
The four areas:
Location: identifying existing personal data held across the organisation
- Governance: managing data subject access rights, data storage and use
- Security: protecting against vulnerabilities and breach
- Reporting: for data requests, breaches, and accountability
Cobweb’s three-phase package:
Define the requirements:
phase 1 focuses on developing a comprehensive understanding of the regulation’s requirements, with webinars and workshops the support activities.
Create the plan:
in phase 2, the GDPR consultants will carry out health checks and readiness assessments to help you identify the processes that currently meet GDPR requirements and highlight where compliancy is missing to be able to create the plan to move forward.
phase 3 divides into a process track and a technical track. Work package clinics help with defining process capabilities, and then Cobweb can advise on the technology – the solutions, services and applications – to help you meet requirements.
