This week I’ve been in Las Vegas, attending the Microsoft flagship partner event Inspire, 15-19 July 2018.
It was my first ever Microsoft Inspire event and I had no idea what to expect – and very little feeling for what the exact value attending would bring to me and Cobweb.
But, what a week it has been!
I cannot believe how much I have learned. The breadth of educational sessions available was amazing. Days were filled with back-to-back educational sessions and strategy updates given directly by the people who own those strategies at Microsoft, and evenings were spent working with our Microsoft colleagues and understanding how we can go to market together as a team.
Sessions during one of my days, for example, ranged from technical discussions to demonstrations of SQL and Windows server migrations to Azure.
I have been so impressed with Microsoft – their technology, and also their approach to people, inclusivity and company values. As partners, we were made to feel part of that ‘family’, and it gave me absolute confidence that we at Cobweb are working with the best of breed.
I was lucky enough to be invited to the Women in Technology luncheon event on Tuesday to discuss stories of Microsoft's continued success with partners and customers alike. I was blown away by the female leadership team at the event, which included Microsoft executives Gavriella Schuster (Corporate Vice President, Worldwide Partner Group), Julia White (Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Azure) and Kathleen Hogan (Executive Vice President, Human Resources) – and all the team gave inspiring speeches. The event was topped off by a surprise appearance by Satya Nadella himself, and showing the value Microsoft place on supporting inclusivity in the workplace.
As an IBM employee for 15 years, if I’d had any doubts about working with Microsoft, those have gone, completely. The passion, energy, technical prowess and commitment to people and ethics I have seen this week are next to none.
And what does all I’ve learnt mean moving forward for me and for the team at Cobweb? Our core strategy remains supporting Cobweb customers on their journey to the cloud and Microsoft 365, and we now have the knowledge for key additional wrap arounds. We have so much to update our customers on, and having the information directly from Microsoft means that we can really help and support our customers on their journey.
What a week this has been – and I can’t wait for Inspire next year!
