5 reasons we're excited about the new Microsoft UAE datacenters

Microsoft datacenters in Abu Dhabi and Dubai are now live, bringing the company’s trusted cloud to the Middle East. With the prospect of many UAE businesses now be able to have their data held securely within a local cloud, we’re super excited about being part of Microsoft global cloud infrastructure and we think you should be too.

Here’s five key reasons the new data-centers are great news for you, the UAE, and wider region:

Data residency on your doorstep

With the launch of the datacenters, which provide enterprise-grade reliability and performance combined with data residency, Microsoft Azure’s cloud computing services and Microsoft 365 are now generally available from the new UAE cloud regions. Dynamics 365, for customer relationship management, and Power Platform, for business intelligence and workflow needs, will follow by the end of this year. Concerns over data being held overseas are now at an end!

Low latency

With the availability of the local datacenters, latency is reduced considerably and as good as any on-premises systems. Concerns over a slower user experience are no longer valid.

Stay ahead of the curve

Digital transformation is all about bringing together people, data, and processes to create a ‘work-from-anywhere’ environment that instills value with your clients and secure competitive advantage.

The benefits of cloud services include efficiencies, cost-savings, cyber-resilience and secure access. Those looking to future-proof their business by fully harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, blockchain, augmented and virtual reality, need to rely on the hyper-scale cloud and its scalability.

Heightened competitiveness

Moving to a cloud system reduces the cost of companies creating their own in-house server, hardware and security infrastructure. UAE businesses can now access a cloud which is scalable, always available and resilient, while maintaining data residency, security and compliance – some of today’s biggest tech issues. Businesses will be more competitive as they embrace digital transformation to engage customers, empower employees, optimise operations and reinvent their products and services.

Smart cities boost

With data residency issues resolved, government and semi-government organisations in the UAE can now utilise the new data-center regions while complying with local regulations thereby boosting the opportunities to deliver smart, cloud-based solutions for services to citizens and residents.
