There’s some heartening news from new research courtesy of Avaya. The research shows that UAE employees are embracing the work from home model crediting it for making them more productive and happier. The ‘Life and Work Beyond 2020’ study says that most employees now favor a ‘hybrid’ workplace where they split their time between the office and home and believe it will be a key requirement for future business success.
Some 64% of those interviewed in the Emirates said hybrid working options contribute to their happiness with more than half – 51% – saying they worry about returning to the office full-time and 40% expressing concern about having to work solely from home.
So, hybrid workplaces look to be the next normal for businesses in the UAE who want to attract and retain talent, innovate, and thrive but do these organisations have the right technology in place to facilitate the trend? Well 64% of those surveyed in the UAE say they have the necessary ‘work from anywhere technology – leaving a third believing they are not fully equipped.
Remote working – whether from home or elsewhere – brings with it some business concerns, particularly over security and rightly so. In an era of spiraling and increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, it would be a very confident, or unaware, organisation that would ignore security concerns and they would do so at their peril. The risks of non-compliance with data privacy regulations, hacking of confidential data, damage to reputation, and the remedial costs, including downtime repair, are enormous.
Yet, with the right technology, organizations can enable their teams to work securely and collaboratively at a distance and reap the benefits of productivity gains. They can place their trust in solutions, like Microsoft 365 where security comes as standard.
Take Microsoft 365 Business – This cloud platform solution is a comprehensive suite of enterprise-grade security tools specifically curated to provide security across identity, email, and devices. It safeguards businesses against both external and internal leaks and gives employers total control over who can access sensitive information whether the access is remote or onsite by enabling Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access (CA). MFA is highly recommended to prevent cyberattacks even if your credentials are compromised while CA lets employers control systems access based on location, app, device state, and user state.
Microsoft 365 Business also protects against threats via email as it includes ‘Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection’ with AI-powered analysis to detect and discard suspect messages. It will automatically check email links, and its anti-spoofing intelligence will alert you to any domain impersonation.
Microsoft 365 Business will also protect devices from external threats thanks to its Windows Defender Ransomware Protection.
