October launch of new commerce experience to deliver greater licensing flexibility

There is good news for all Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and Power Platform license holders. Microsoft is due to launch its New Commerce Experience in October which will mean you will have a wider choice of subscription-based license offerings for all three solutions. The Experience greatly expands license-based subscription options which are currently only available on annual terms.

Once the New Commerce Experience is in place, license holders will be able to choose a three-year subscription option for Dynamics 365, an annual based subscription with monthly payments for all three solutions, and a new monthly-term subscription. Although the monthly-term option will be priced 20% higher than the other options, its upside is that it can be canceled at any time without charge.

It’s all particularly good news for SMBs which will now have greater flexibility to deal with evolving staffing needs. For instance, if a business knows that 70 seats are going to be constant across the year, they can buy those licenses via annual subscription and if additional staff join and more licenses are needed, they can be bought on a monthly subscription.

So where to from here?

If you already have Microsoft 365, Dynamics 365, and or Power Platform licenses, they will run as normal until their renewal dates. Once license renewals are due, you will seamlessly migrate to the New Commerce Experience, and you’ll be able to select either annual or three-year commitments or the new monthly licensing option.

Cobweb and the New Commerce Experience

Cobweb was invited to participate in Microsoft’s ‘early adopter program’, and so ahead of the official launch we’ve built up considerable experience of advising customers and managing licensing migrations to the New Commerce Experience. This makes for a fantastic opportunity for us to review and assess your license needs and make sure your solutions and services are truly meeting your current and future needs.
