In today’s remote working, learning, and socializing world Microsoft has come up with another slew of upgrades to help us all stay connected, productive, and secure while staying physically apart.
Here’s what’s new to keep you in touch and safe
New Yammer experience for Microsoft Teams & Mobile:
The newly designed Yammer that powers community, knowledge-sharing, and employee engagement now feature a fully interactive ‘Communities’ app that brings your communities and conversations directly into Microsoft Teams. It’s Yammer but in Teams. Install the Yammer app in Teams to get started and pin the app in the navigation rail to start discovering communities, knowledge, and conversations alongside your projects, chats, and meetings.
You can also experience the new Yammer on mobile. With the new Yammer app for iOS and Android, your entire organization can connect with a redesigned live events experience that allows everyone to watch and participate right in the app for unbelievable, company-wide engagement. Mobile users also get to experience the new Yammer layouts and styling making it easier to discover content and post replies and include better previews and uploading performance for images, videos, links, and files. You can download or update your app from the App Store or Play Store.
Excel – lent
Data analysis in Excel has become super intuitive allowing users to quickly turn data into insights with natural language queries. This means you can now ask your data a question for it to analyze and produce an answer. This great new feature is available to Microsoft 365 subscribers in Excel for Windows, Mac, and Excel for the web. Simply open Excel’s ‘Ideas’ pane, enter a question in the query box at the top of the pane, and press enter.
Visio hat trick
Visio for the web has a trio of new capabilities. Now you can replace an existing shape in a diagram with a more relevant one in just a few clicks. The new shape will retain the formatting, connectors, and all other characteristics of the original shape. You can also add diagram images to other documents to easily share with stakeholders and more easily focus on certain diagram elements with the new pinch-and-zoom functionality.
Get better data control with Microsoft Edge
You can now get more control over your data and new ways to organize your online research with the upgraded Microsoft Edge which lets you work quicker, stay organized, and have more control while you browse and work online.
Due out soon to Microsoft Edge is Smart copy which will make it easier to select, copy, and paste the precise content from the web while keeping the rich web format so you don’t have to re-format tables, fonts, and more. Also, due shortly is Vertical Tabs which will let you have many tabs open at once and Password Monitor which enable more secure search and help keep online accounts safe from hackers.
More insightful Microsoft 365
You can now get better insights into how your organization is working—even remotely - with new data updates in Microsoft 365 usage reports. These enable you to measure calendar activity in the email report, understand your total Microsoft 365 activity, and a new report to help you see Microsoft 365 app (formerly Office 365 ProPlus) usage. There’s also a new usage report homepage card to help you understand how solutions that contribute to remote work are being used.
