Cobweb’s ‘Morning in the Cloud’ stakeholder engagement and education event – a regular feature on Europe’s business calendars - debuted in Dubai in September to an enthusiastic response from UAE organisations looking to transform their operations and potential through the power of the cloud.
The event, held on September 18 at Dubai’s stunning JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, attracted a 25-strong turnout of existing and potential Cobweb customers as well as a Cobweb delegation from the UK including Finance Director Michael Olpin.
Following an official welcome and panel introductions, the day’s business got into full swing with Mohammed Arif, Microsoft- Business Group lead Modern Workplace & Security regalling the audience with advice on achieving The Modern Workplace with Microsoft. He took the audience through ways businesses can transform into a modern workplace with heightened security, collaboration, and productivity!
Microsoft Teams is a key modern workplace solution and its advanced communication and collaboration capabilities were brought into sharp focus with a live demonstration by Altaf Alimohamed, Managing Director, Cobweb MENA and Shailesh Vaja of Cobweb.
The audience later heard Altaf Alimohamed’s convincing reasoning on why organisations should be looking to optimise their IT now. Altaf outlined how costs can be reduced and productivity improved via Cloud IT Infrastructure Optimisation using Microsoft’s Azure Backup and Disaster Recovery. He also unveiled Cobweb’s ‘Discovery Package’ concept where it works with organisations to identify cloud solutions which optimise production and efficiency and enable the organisation to gear up to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Soon after the floor was turned over to author, strategic consultant and Mimecast evangelist J Peter Bruzzese who unpacked the challenges and key security considerations impacting email security in 2019 – including the continuing rise of malware and ransomware attacks. He drilled down into how cloud services can help protect against loss and security breaches – one of the key pain points of today’s business life.
Rounding out the presentations was Cobweb’s Sales Manager Sanjay Thomas who demonstrated how organisations can ensure data protection for its Office 365 users with Acronis advanced threat cybersecurity back up protection.
A lively question and answer session followed which left Cobweb convinced that local IT departments are keener than ever to get to grips with cloud solutions which can help them navigate today’s threats while meeting strategic business objectives.
“Interest was extremely high and there was a high degree of appreciation for the knowledge transfer offered in this ‘Morning in the Cloud,’” explained Alimohamed. “There is an appetite for more events of this kind, and we are now working on a programme to be rolled out early 2020.”
